So I'm planning to leash train my cats to take them on walks but I'm worried about fleas, ticks, etc. Should I be giving them any sort of preventative treatment or products or am I being paranoid? Should I be inspecting them every time we come home from a walk? Checking their fur? Giving them meds? What's the deal yall

I would think you might want to consider a topical flea/tick treatment. Revolution, Advantage II are just two examples.
Yes, you should give them a flea/tick/mosquito treatment. Even indoor kitties should get some sort of treatment during the warmer months!
