We went on our little "mini-honeymoon" this weekend to Myrtle Beach. We're not taking one because we can't afford the leave time with the Army since Erik has to take two weeks off to move me home in December before he deploys. We're going to take a big trip when he gets out of the Army, so oh well.
The Army sponsored a Strong Bonds weekend for married couples who are about to deploy - they paid for everything and all we had to do was attend marriage classes. Erik and I have been together for over 6 years and we've known each other for about 20 years...so honestly there was nothing that new to us. The classes were nice, though, and I hope that they helped others.
The first night we went to Medieval Times (we were soooo excited for that...we paid extra to get front row seats...they're called Adult Royalty
) and we had to eat with our hands, no silverware allowed.
It was awesome, we had a blast - the fighting was super-cool, they must practice a lot, I was so scared they were actually going to hit each other.
After that we walked around "Broadway on the Beach" (a huge entertainment area - it contains a lot of restaurants, little shops, putt-putting, a movie theater, etc.) and saw "Saw III" (very good - I thought it tied up the storyline very well...although it's extremely gory, so beware) and then headed back to our hotel room.
On our second day we went putt-putting and then out to lunch, and then got on the road to come home. It was a bit cold but we had beautiful sunny weather the whole time so no complaints here. Our hotel was on the beach, and the balcony attached to our room overlooked the water. We woke up to crashing waves...ahhh, I could have stayed there a few more days!
So here's a few pics from our trip I thought I'd share...
Erik and me in the truck on the drive down to Myrtle...
The view from our hotel room...
Erik and me on the beach...
Erik and me in front of the Medieval Times Castle...
Me with my super-huge strawberry daiquiri in my Medieval Times cup...
The red and yellow knight - our knight to cheer on...
Erik and me with our crowns on in the front row, ready to eat and watch people get beaten...note his ballcap on under his crown, too funny...
Me with the red and yellow night after the show...
Our "official" Medieval Times photo, taken by one of the staff members and given to us in a neat holder...
Erik and me at the Dragon's Lair putt-putt course...
Erik's hole-in-one...
My hole-in-one...
Me with the skeleton pirate at the place where we ate lunch...
Erik with the skeleton pirate...
The super-sweet Kiss Coffeehouse...
Hahaha...The Stupid Factory...I know a lot of people that came from there!...
The sign for the Ripley's Aquarium that I thought was very cool...
