Well I haven't been on in a while! Thunder and Chippie are a year old and are doing fabulously! Both much happier after being fixed and have calmed down a bit, though both are still crazy!
No new kittens from the feral colony next door (all but 1 little girl are fixed over there!) and we thought we'd have a kittenless summer.
Well my mom's friend sent her a text and picture of a VERY pregnant tabby in her garage and the next morning we went over to get her.
We couldn't find her until we looked in that small space between the garage (where there were open trash cans that she had been eating out of) and the wall. I was able to lure her out with a can of tuna and into a carrier and we took this little girl home.
That is Sandy, who for being an outdoor cat is super friendly and loving and trusting! She has become super spoiled and is loving life indoors!
On August 5th she gave birth to 5 adorable healthy kittens. The first born was breech and the only boy, but everybody was born very quick and easily. Poor momma is just a baby herself, but is an amazing mother!
Fast forward to now, and they are a crazy bunch of babies! Playing, running around, climbing. They are mostly weaned and momma is finally packing on some weight! She had a day a couple weeks ago she was sick so we had to supplement that day, but she got over whatever it was the next morning (thankfully! We thought we were going to have to take her to the vet) They all started out between 4.5-4.7 ounces and at 5 weeks old are quite the chunky little ones.
That was our attempt at lining them up! Smokey, Ziva, and Shadow al have homes awaiting for the end of October - early November to get their babies. Sandy is being taken in to get fixed in October and we have somebody who just lost their last kitty on Friday who might consider taking her in.
That is Dylan, who is the only boy, first born, and is a whopping 20 ounces at only 5 weeks old!
We are also keeping Dylan. My baby boy, Felix, who I had since he was 3 weeks old died suddenly last Friday at only 8 years old
Then there's Dylan's doppleganger, Nixie. She is a sweetie, but is turning into a crazy little monster! She's still looking for her forever home and is 17.8 ounces!
Shadow is our adventurous girl and if she's not cuddling, she is ALWAYS on the move and getting into things! She has a home with 2 other cats awaiting her and they've come to visit and love her. She's 18 ounces.
And Smokey (who's name needs to be switched with Shadow!) is always at Shadow's side and is quite the playful little one. Don't mind the first pic! I scruffed her because she kept trying to get under the car to find a dead vole (left by the ferals of course) and when I set her down, she stayed in that scruffed kitten trance! The little feet were needing and she lied there for a good 30 seconds before coming back out of it! Also 17.9 ounces and has a home awaiting.
And last but not least, Ziva. She is a sweetie, LOVES her momma, is super brave and loves the dogs and other cats, super curious, and is such a pretty little tabby. She'll be moving in with an older cat and 2 large dogs. She's at 18.2 ounces after being the lightest for a bit. She is our only kitten who won't touch the canned food! She went straight to dry food and only eats dry!
And of course what would one of my kitten posts be without momma Blakey with the babies pictures? He is SO excited the babies are here. He just LOVES kittens!!!
And to show how much fun it is taking kitten photo shoots at this age, they're second adventure outside to get some good lighting pictures (and the tree pictures) running around in the grass to play, but not wandering too far before crying and sprinting back to attach themselves to our legs!
