As the fellow Floridians know, we get pretty violent afternoon thunderstorms here during the summer that contain ALOT of lighting. Well yesterday afternoon was no exception. I had to run over to my mom and dads for a few minutes which is about a mile away. The storms hit while I was gone and my fiance was at home. I headed home in what ended up being the middle of the storm. When I got there he walked out of the office where he had been on the computer and said "you won't believe what happened!". Lighting struck the house and he said he was sitting at the computer and he saw a bolt come through the wall and take ahold of the television!
He said it was the craziest thing he had ever seen. It happened fast, and it was like a bright white light and a very loud crack of thunder immediately after. Thank goodness he was ok because he sits literally 2 feet from the tv. The power went out a couple of minutes but it came back on and everything was working just fine. We are lucky because friends of ours had their house struck 3 weeks ago and they lost everything that was plugged in. I guess their house wasn't grounded well enough.
