I'm going nuts. Obi (who was semi-feral) is turning into a total sweetie, who purrs and cuddles and is a great young cat but . . . . his previous history has made him careless of tender human skin. His attempting to "play" with my hands and feet I have slowly been training him out of by the tried-and-true redirection of attention and ignoring him. He's getting a clue. The problem now is that he's CARELESS. Just now it was the last straw, because I have some "f"ing deep claw puncture wounds in the top of my thigh that Obi managed to give me a moment ago. He was trying to jump into my lap and didn't judge it right. Instead of slipping back to the floor and trying again, he embedded his claws in my leg pulled himself up! Then jumped down again as I started jumping up and down and swearing. He does this stuff all the time, though never as bad as just now. He doesn't seem to get the difference between a couch and a human body! Last night he walked across my face. He planted his paws firmly across my mouth and cheek, and acted like it wasn't any different from the bed! I know it isn't malicious, or even playful. It's just carelessness. HOW do I get him to understand that he needs to be careful??!!!
