I live in a small apartment building. There are 6 renters and we each have our own trash cans in the back of the building. Early this morning I carried out my little bag of garbage. I glanced in to the can before tossing in the bag and saw a sweet little ball of fur all curled up trying to stay warm in this 19 degree weather!!!.I knew it was a poor little kitten that needed help. But how angry would Bella be with me??? Should I take the chance and just hope Bella gets over it?? YES. I had found the little thing and now I was responsible for it's well-being. So as I reached down into the can to get the shivering little baby I think I made some cooing sound. The creature woke up and looked straight into my eyes. It was a baby all right. A baby opossum!! OMG. Well, my attitude about my responsibilities toward this helpless creature shifted alittle bit. I went back to my apartment and got a can of cat food and a little blanket for it. That's as far as I can go with it. I didn't bring Bella any surprises today. Later I thought, what it I hadn't made any noise when I reached it? No doubt I would have been bitten. And they are not attractive, really. But a baby is a baby. Now, it's dark out and the temperature is falling. I am sitting up here worried about that ugly baby.
