How normal is this and what does this mean?

My 1 yr+ months cat is constantly biting and trying to bite a 3-4 month old kitten.

Did you just get the kitten. He could be playing but also showing that he is the boss since he is older. Sort of intimidating the younger kitty to insure his social ranking.

They have been introduced over the past two months (about)... last night and today is the most time they have ever spent together. They usually would just socialize through the doors but lately the kitten has been zooming in where the Big Cat stays when the door opens.

And last night and today when he swats her back it's also accompanied with a bunch of biting… well he moves his mouth back-in-forth non-stop in biting motions, trying to bite her… at one point he pinned her down and started biting her stomach… side… back… and when the kitten hit’s at him… he tries biting her arms, paws… whatever he can catch in his mouth… the kitten hasn’t made any noise as though she’s in pain…

she has growled and hissed a little though… just trying to figure out if this is normal and safe behavior… is he just establishing dominance… have any one experience or know about this type of behavior with cats or kittens and cats.
