They are probably lipomas, benign fatty tumors with no cancer, however, at his age, I would suggest having them checked, just to make sure. As with all living creatures, cancer is a disease of aging (the cells just don't reproduce as efficiently as they did), and there is no sense in taking any chances with such a Grand Old Man!
