Hi my dearly loved female cat aged 14 has just started fouling in the house she has always been a really clean cat, has access to outside space through the cat flap. She is in general good health any ideas why she has changed her behaviour?

Stress or illness are the major culprits for bad bathroom behavior. If you're sure she's not sick, can you think of anything that may have changed in her life? Have you tried putting a litter box in the house, preferably where she is going? I had a 15 year old cat suddenly change from going outside to insisting that she only do her business indoors. In her case, I believe it was a matter of the two foot walk to the petdoor being too much of a burden on her creaky bones, and not wanting to deal with the competition outside from other critters. When I gave her a room of her own to "rule" and her own litter box, she was just fine. If I moved that box even a foot out of the room, it was back to doing it in random places around the house.
