My first thought was perhaps she got stung by a wasp or a bee - but the swelling would have gone down by now. I was too chicken to touch the lump so Mum did and she said it was hard. It hasn't affected her eating or drinking but we all know how cats hide pain *sigh* thanks for the vibes

Maybe a rodent ulcer? Or are they only on the upper lip?

I hope it is nothing serious, good luck and let us know how Brie does when you get a chance.

That was my first thought but surely the swelling would have reduced after a week?

I've had a cat with rodent ulcers before and they were different, but no doubt rodent ulcers differ in appearance.

We are off to the vet first thing in the morning, so I'll let you all know.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
Sorry - I meant stung by something and having an allergic reaction.

Either way, hopefully you'll know soon enough and have some relief for her!

We went to the vets today. The vet doesn't think it's serious either a cyst or an allergic reaction to something but since she COULD be pregnant the treatments are limited. So we are going to try vaseline for a week otherwise she's going back to see if she's pregnant and if she's not she will get a steroid shot.

Thanks guys!

I've learnt not to google anymore because it can make you ill!. I leave it to the experts now

Even yesterday when i took Sophie and the vet said what the two possibilities were, for my peace of mind i still had to say "Your definite it isn't cancer!" just so i could hear him say it wasn't again
