Firstly, the back story:
got 2 kittens (brother & sister) at 12 wks old. Unfortunately they weren't socialised so took over 12 months to get them 'semi' used to me and all the regular household noises/activities.

Shadow, is still very jumpy, runs from strangers and rarely sits on my lap for more than a minute.

So, she's taken to following me into the upstairs bathroom, and dropping down from the windowsill onto my 'erm' bare legs while I'm sat on the toilet erm 'doing my thing' (sorry for the offending images I'm constructing).

So, she'll sit there and get all cosy and wrap herself up to get lots of pets and then decides to nap...all the while I'm trying to keep my legs even so she doesn't slide off and use her nails on my bare flesh for support.

I know it's a very odd place for her to wanna snuggle up...but I take her affection where/when I can get it!

Just thought I'd share:-)

Salsero gal.

I think you will find you are not alone in having close company in the porcelain room Most of us have been there.

And most of us enjoy it.

Phew!

Glad I'm not alone. I thought it a bit odd and tbh 'slightly perverted' but hey, it's Shadow's choice so who am I to fight it.

Nope, nope, not odd at all. Perfectly normal behavior.....for a cat!

Well done socializing your kitties. I'm sure you are rewarded every day for your hard work and perseverance!

Without fail, Holland follows me into the bathroom every time I'm in there. My toilet is right next to the tub, and she usually jumps into the tub for some "peek-a-boo" behind the shower curtain.
When I'm in the shower, she sits on the toilet seat, waiting patiently for mommy to be done.
She's actually gotten a little brave in the last couple of weeks, poking her head around the shower curtain when I'm in there, but she's yet to jump in the tub when I've got the water on.

For the past few months, Scooter has taken to coming in when I am sitting there and flopping over in my lap to be held like a baby. He never much liked being held before that, now he fusses when I put him down, and demands to be held for awhile every evening when I get home from work.

@Mystik

My cat zelda does the SAME thing!! never fails that shes in there whenever i am...no matter what i am doing. Shes starting to jump into the tub when im in there doing my makeup and just wait for me to turn around and pet her. Its the cutest thing and now the other two adult cats are following her same moves haha. So everytime im trying to do my business,i have 3 kitties in there keeping me company!

Zelda -

If there's ever a time when I can't find Holland, I just go into the bathroom. *Poof* instant kitty!
I don't know why it works, but it works.

Neko comes and sits on the bathroom rug infront of me. She uses this opportunity to groom or play behing the shower curtain too. She HAS to come in though. If i close the bathroom door for some privacy she scratches at the door or has both paws under the door, grabbing at the rug.

I don't have the luxury of closing the door since Holland's litter box is in my bathroom. I live alone, so there's no privacy issue. Although when I first adopted her I felt weird about her seeing me naked or sitting on the toilet...

No problems now, though...

Hey folks,

Reading your posts reminded me of Shadow's brother: he comes running from wherever he is, into the bathroom if I haven't waited for him before flushing the toilet. If he's there already I point to the handle, and he props his paws on the bowl and looks in while the water flushes.
If he's feeling brave he'll jump up on the seat to watch the action.
It's hysterical watching his fascination.

I know it's not very hygienic having him sit on the bowl, but I'd rather that than his first behaviour of trying to climb down into it to lick the freshly arrived water.

I was going to take a shower last night. Dusty followed me into the bathroom as normal. She jumped into the tub and laid down. I told her I was going to turn to water on but she just looked at me. Well, I closed the shower door and turned the water on. That got her attention! She tried to jump out but the door was closed! I did immediately open the door and she jumped out. The look she gave me. But I did tell her that I was turning the water on!
