Misty is about 6-7 months old and just over the past 2 -3 weeks has taken to hiding and darting away at any noise, hand or movement. I noticed it started with the doorbell. Before this she never displayed these behaviours.

We do have a houseful of people for Christmas but all people she is used to visiting.

Is this a normal phase or should I be worried?

do you usually have a house full of people or do you usually have less guests at a time or less frequent guests?

Normally we are less hectic even if these people are visiting. Should i just leave her be to relax when they are gone?

that's what i'd suggest.  hectic is usually stressful for cats, so expect her to be skittish.  is there a way you can put her in a quiet bedroom for now with her toys, treats and box, and you can drop in and visit frequently?
