Hi everybody.. my name is Sarrah, and it's great to join your site. I'll tell you a little about myself.
I have two cats.. one has been around a while, and one is a newcomer. They were both adopted from the Virginia Beach SPCA.
Fiona has been with us for about 6 months. According to the SPCA, she is between 4 and 5, but I think she is older. She suffers from a degenerative eye disease, and is almost totally blind (she can still perceive bright light, such as a laser pointer, and can tell the difference between bright and dark). She is currently undergoing treatment for lumbosacral syndrome, also known as cauda equina syndrome. She had lost the use of her tail due to the spinal problems, but due to a regimen of pain managing medication, she has recovered it.
She has a followup visit on Wednesday, and I will be sure to update everyone about her progress She is definitely "my" cat, and has bonded to me much more than to my fiance. We have a very special relationship, and every day I am grateful that I rescued her from the SPCA and have been able to give her the treatment she has needed for her myriad health problems (there have been others, but they have been dealt with).
Lolly became a member of our family a few weeks ago. She is only a year old, and still has a lot of kitten in her. Her previous owners had her declawed, which we did not know until we got her home and examined her paws thoroughly. She had never met another cat before Fiona, and has definitely taken her time warming up to her. You can tell Lolly wants to lay down and cuddle with her, but as soon as Fiona looks up or moves a paw, Lolly hisses and runs away. They are getting better with time, though.
She is super playful, and has bonded to Jon (my fiance) more than with me, although she is a sweetheart and we do get along well. She follows him around from room to room though, it's adorable!
Thanks so much for taking the time to read about my sweet companions. Here is a picture of the girls, so you won't be too bored.
Fiona is the lazy bum, and Lolly is the one perched on the arm of the sofa. I look forward to getting to know you all!
