Tiger is a good name for a tabby.
Thanks everyone for your comments. I'm off to bed after his last feeding for the night. He's gone about 6.5 hours before needing more food which suits my sleep time just fine.Originally Posted by hissy
Hi Dan,
I just wanted to commend you for your thoroughness in raising this baby. It is a tough job and he is still so young, you need to remain vigilant. You can add more water to the formula to help with the stool, but often these wee ones are born with parasites and that can also be a problem. You can't do much about the worms at this stage, but once he is bigger and stronger, call your vet and schedule an appoinment to get him checked out.
You can also wrap him up in a warm towel while feeding this helps them to relax and you can gently massage the belly before and after feeding. One trick I use quite often is to put the bum into a stream of warm water and just massage around the rectum.
Good luck with Logan and I won't even mention how many times I have gotten the sexing wrong on newborn kittens.
Dan - you don't have to be a 21 year old geek to like the X-Men!Originally Posted by dan10101

It's funny you mention rubbing his belly. He seems to be teaching me that on his own. He loves his belly rubbed.
The claw thing was one of the reasons I thought Logan would be appropriate. That and invincibility. No, I"m not a 21 year old geek, more than double that. We'll just continue to try to call him He instead of She. Which is tough to do...
Well it sounds like he's setteled in for the night, so I'm off to bed,
Thanks All for leading me through this. I knew there would be a group of people out there that cared about this unknown orphan as much as I did. I'm just glad I found you.
Thanks so much,
Dan and Tiger, or Logan, or Sassy, or whatever...
Awww! Sounds like he is doing well!! Did you decide on a name? Is it Logan, Tiger.... or Sassy??????Originally Posted by dan10101
Another update... 4 weeks old on Friday. 9.25oz weight.
He's doing well. The poopers are coming few and far between. I went a bought some Pet Authority liquid vitamins. Hopefully it will help regulate him a bit.
Eating and sleeping well.
Hears most noises, but probably muffled.
He can't see much past 1 or two feet maybe less.
Gets shocked sometimes when you touch him.
Gets real aggressive when eating, but otherwise is pretty calm.
I had a cat friend come by and take a look at him. She thought he was doing well. Nothing obviously wrong.
Anyways, that's where we are at.

This site has been a real help. I found a few others that offer this type of advice. I check back regularly as time passes to see how things need to evolve.
Thanks A Bunch!

Awwww! The hand or finger suckling is a comfort thing - like a pacifier - but it's not a real good habit for baby Logan (yes?) to get into. Look into getting him a kitten pacifier. Or let him suckle and chew on the bottle. He might end up suckling his own paw, too.Originally Posted by dan10101
Well that's good, at least I don't have a nut case...
At 4 weeks, he's 10.5 oz and eating and pooping well on his own. That's a relief (so to speak).
My biggest concern now is his sight. It doesn't seem to be getting any better. I wonder at times if he can see at all.
My other concern is loneliness. He seems lost quite a bit. If he were able to see, I'm sure he would be all over exploring.
His latest thing is to sit on my lap and suck on my hand until he falls asleep, or my hand falls off.
I'll see if I can get some pictures, it's real hard with my cheep camera to get any photos that aren't blury. Maybe I'll just get some video.
Thanks,
Dan
