It has been now two weeks since we brought home the super tiny little girl in our car motor. She was at that time guessed to be about 8 weeks old despite only weighing 6 ounces. Now more than 2 weeks down the road she has gained nearly 2 ounces....however...the gain is not body mass but instead abdominal fluid. She is still an active, playful kitten with a voracious appetite...but because of the amount of fluid she is taking a low dose of lasix daily as it was beginning to cause her to labor in breath. Although we are sending off for an FIP screen it is more for protocol and not because that is strongly suspected. We were leaning more towards congenital heart defect although at initial exam nothing obvious was picked up. Her little chest is extremely difficult to listen too because of all the constant purring Her chemistries seem to all be normal at this point so kidney and liver issues are likely a rule out. Please send good thoughts for her. I really wanted her to be OK....she's amazingly sweet!
