Hi Everyone, we recently adopted a cat from South Carolina via a rescue here in the Northeast. Sheldon is a 1 year old sweet boy. When I got him home I noticed a bare spot on his foot and was immediately concerned about ringworm, as it's very common among southern rescues. So I took him to the vet, who tested him. He is negative thank goodness, but I wanted to let everyone know there is a new test out there that can diagnose ringworm from a culture in 4 DAYS as opposed to the up to 28 days that most tests can take. It is called Quick Medium 4 Day Test, Rapid Vet-D, and is made by DMS labs. I did some googling on it and seems like a good, reliable test. I can't say how much it cost for sure, but I know the vet did it in his lab rather than sending it out and my whole bill was less than $200 (including physical, meds, culture) so it wasn't horribly expensive.
