A new kitten may be joining our household. An incontinet cat and dog ruined the carpet downstairs, beyond belief!!! Despite it being years ago and a few carpet cleanings layer it still smells faintly of pee to me. Our cats have no litter box avoidance issues but I am wondering if it would be worth a try using an enzyme carpet cleaner & one of those rented carpet cleaning machines; before bringing a new kitten home?

Eventually all the carpets/pads will be replaced, probably in a year.

Since my room mate is kitten hunting should I bother with the carpet? Or will the kitten be fine to learn litter box is where all your pee/poo go? I mean besides the sometimes standard kitten accidents? No one wants to go back to the pee house!!! I'm still haunted by being afraid to go barefoot downstairs or the stench of pee!!!!

I would clean that carpet with enzyme carpet cleaner because if your Kitten smells it he may think that is where to pee..

Generally, Kitten will learn to use the litter box quickly as it is second nature to them.
