We have 3 dogs and 4 kittens.
Jojo - 13 week old bottle baby who started it all
Lady Loki - 17 week old baby we adopted when Jojo was 5 weeks old
Thor - 19 week old we adopted last weekend from the same rescue
Apawlo - Thor's litter mate that we also adopted last weekend
Thor and Apawlo had a bad case of ringworm when they hit 8 weeks and then got URIs as the ringworm was healing, so they didn't get to go to adoption events when they were tiny and cute. We took them because we couldn't stand to see them without a home of their own. In the week we've had them, Thor has adapted very well. He's playing with and cuddling the girls and even hanging with the dogs some. Apawlo...not so much. He growls at Loki, so she usually keeps her distance. Jojo doesn't avoid him as much, so he's jumped on her several times. We're always closely supervising them, so we break it up immediately. We don't want to keep him shut away. He hates it. He wants to be on the fringe of the activity, and if one of the girls stumbles too close, he attacks.
He loves his people. He cuddles and purrs. However, he's also too rough with us. If we let him in bed with us, he viciously attacks our hair. A few minutes ago, he attacked and bit my hand hard enough to break the skin. He wasn't mad. We were just chilling. I think he was playing. But, like when he plays with hair, he's way too rough. A few minutes later, he was purring, rubbing my face, and kissing me. It was like he was trying to apologize.
If he didn't cuddle and purr, I'd think he was just mean. Since he does demonstrate affection so much, it's clear he just needs to be taught. How do we teach him some manners and help him get along with the girls?
