Hi everyone!
I have a small dog (shih tzu mix) that I got from a shelter 3 years ago. He came with baggage and is still a little insecure. I thought about getting another dog but decided that a cat might be a better fit. So last October I was looking at the rescue cats in Petsmart . Some people in front of me were thinking of taking Daryl, but then they changed their minds. They walked away and Daryl stretched out his paw to them as if to say, "Hey, come back!" I walked up to his cage and he pressed his face against the bars and invited me to scratch his cheeks. I knew he was "the one." I found out that Daryl was a stray who had been seriously injured by an animal. Some people found him with a huge open gash to his left shoulder. They took him to a vet, who treated him pro bono and then turned him over to a rescue group. This rescue group is awesome and took great care of him.
Daryl is the most affectionate cat and he gets along great with Barney. I call them my two guys. He still has a slight limp and you can see where he's missing some tissue around his left shoulder area. It doesn't slow him down at all. He'd chase the laser dot all day long if he could!
