Hi all, thanks to those who responded to my first cry for help. I have brought the mother and babies in. The mother appears to be quite tame. She did growl when I tried to feel her abdomen to try to figure out if she would have any more kittens but that was the only time.
So far there are three precious kittens-all a different color. She is caring for them well and she has been fed, watered and shown the litter pan. I put them in a large, plasic tupperware tub that I used for laundrey. She seems content at the time.
My question is this, she still looks pregnant. How will I know if she is done. I always thought animals who had just given birth looked skinny and starved. She still looks bloated to me. I am worried that when I picked her up to bring her in I did something somehow and her labor stopped.
She has not seen the vet yet but I will be calling to see if he thinks she needs to be examined. I am new at this. I have 4 children and did not worry this much over my own births.
Thanks again- any helpful hints would be greatly appreciated.
