My new shelter rescue kitten likely has feline herpesviris. She has a uri and a cloudy eye. She’s on doxycycline and Terramycin for the eye. My 4 year old cat that came from the same shelter when she was around a year old is healthy and vaccinated. The vet says after about a 3 week quarantine the two cats can be introduced as long as the symptoms have all cleared with the kitten. I’m just a little worried about my other cat possibly getting sick from the kitten. I know she probably was already exposed when she was as in the shelter. Any words of advice from cats with fhv in the same house as non fhv cats?

I had a herpes kitty and successfully introduced several new kitties to our household. She was fine and the new kitties never got herpes.
