Neutering Male Mc ... Best Age!

When is the best time to neuter a maine coon male? If they're slower maturing then should we wait longer than the 6 months? We would like his little head to fill out and reach his growth potential.

This is all based off thinking hes a maine coon by the way....he certainly looks and weighs the same as one.

It would be best if you could get him neutered before five months of age, so that he does not reach sexual maturity. You can read more about why early neuter is a good idea here: Background

TCS recently had an expert forum discussion that included Dr. Bushby from Feline Fix By Five. As Dr. Bushby said in this thread: How Much Does Early Spay And Neuter Affect Growth?, early spay/neuter does not stunt a cat’s growth. On the contrary, it can actually make them grow slightly taller.

Yep. And he'll still fill out normally. He'll still be producing some male hormones, even with neutering. Not all male hormones are produced in the testicles. Small amounts are also produces in the adrenal glands.
