It is safe in small amounts and you should get the kind that doesn't include pain relief ingredients. After it has been on a few minutes wipe excess off so that your cat doesn't ingest it. I would first wash it with a mild soap and water.

Is Neosporin Safe for Cats?

If signs of infection do appear then a vet is needed. Neosporin is intended to be a preventative not treatment for infection.

Yes but only the Original Neosporin.

Never use the Neosporin with Pain Relief :nono: The pain relief medicine is toxic to cats.

Generic similar triple antibiotic ointments are ok to use and cost less. Just be sure it does not contain pain relief medicine which is typically pramoxine HCL.

You can loosely wrap a gauge bandage or even put a baby sock on the cat's paw to keep the cat from licking at the wound and ingesting ointment. If the wound doesn't heal or clearly gets worse, you will need to take your cat to the vet for treatment.

My vet has used neosporin without the pain med on my cats and has told me to do so at home to heal small wounds, toenail problems, etc.
