I desperately need help and advice. my cat means everything to me ; I have no other family. My orange tabby is now eleven years old and has always been very healthy until now.....he is showing symptoms that I think could possibly be diabetes. I am terrified ! I don't know what to do because my cat has not been vaccinated for rabies in years. And if I take him to a vet and he bites them , the law in my state says that either my cat must be quarrantined for 10 days , or face forced euthanization. I did not know about this law before and had stopped getting him the rabies shots because he has NEVER , EVER left the house. From what I read , according to law , this does not matter , they would still demand either the quarrantine or euthanization. I am a disabled lady who is not able to work and is almost destitute ; I would not be able to come up with the $1,000 needed to quarrantine my cat for 10 days in my area. So....that would mean that if he bit the vet out of his severe fright , I could immediately lose my beloved cat forever. I just don't know what do do and have no - one to ask. Does anyone have any ideas what I could do please ?? Also , my cat is PETRIFIED of people and has literally not seen any other humans in years....I think there is a good chance that the terror of suddenly being taken to the vet could give him a heart attack. Help !
