There is a reason your cat is behaving this way. Cats know nothing about spite so regardless of what your family may think it isn't that. The cause of 99% of litter-box issues is medical. But if you took your cat to the vet, explained to the vet what your cat is doing, and your vet ran a urinalysis and that urinalysis came back negative then your problem is behavioral. I would try a new litter-box coupled with Dr. Elsey's Cat Attract Litter which you can easily purchase at PetSmart.
