Cute picture! That girl really doesn't know how good she has it. Is she still as aggressive as before?
Oh poor baby. I bet that ordeal was just as bad for you as it was for her.Nala Ava Marie has back claws but no front claws as a result of jumping onto a hot oven door when I was checking pizza I was baking in 425• oven. She sustained severe burns on her front right paw and superficial burns on the left front paw. The severity of the burns to the right paw led the vet to believe infection could easily set in. They said the left side was not that bad but for the sake of her balance it'd be better to remove right and left front claws. I was devastated. Even before her accident she was beginning to be a biter. She very seldom scratched anything or used her claws aggressively. She's always had a biting problem. At first, I just chalked it up to her teething. I wash my hands and use hydrogen peroxide, especially if I notice that I'm bleeding and she punctured my skin. Is it possible she'll calm down with age? She's so skittish. She's always acting as if she's on high alert, insecure and fearful. I've given her no reason to feel that way. 90% of the time it's just her and I. I admit, I've been very lax on dicipline with her for many reasons. She is my first cat ever, I'm attached to her bc I hand raised this little girl. I want her to trust me and feel safe and secure. I know it may seem as if I'm emphasizing the negatives but I have to add, at night, she jumps up on my bed, purring, she nuzzles my face (sometimes I admit I'm scared, wondering is this gonna be a bite or a cuddle?) usually if she's purring and her tail is not twitching, she just wants to be close to me. She puts her beautiful face as close to my face as she can without suffocating me. She then plops down beside me and falls asleep. If I accidentally wake her, I just rub her little cheeks, chin and between her eyes and top of her head until she closes her eyes and drifts off to sleep again. When she is startled easily, she does this sidewinder stance and arches her back, her fur stands on end, she looks very intimidating. She does not hiss at me but hisses and growls at almost everyone else. She sometimes jumps up on my lap when I'm watching TV, she just likes being close to me. She's so irresistibly cute that I want to pet her. Usually, that's a mistake. Lol. What did I do wrong? Can these behaviors be remedied? I get so insecure about my ability to care for her that sometimes I want an expert, qualified person to take her! Not that I want to give up on her but so she can be happy. What if I'm making her miserable? I promised her I'd never give up on her and I won't. Her behavior makes me so sad. The only thing I have not bought this kitten is a kitty condo, that's on the list eventually. She has a drinking fountain, several beds, blankets, toys, clothes that she hates so I don't make her wear them. The best food, only bottled water, never tap water, I play with her. I hold her, talk to her, and try to give her lots of attention.
I don't see why not! What time was the surgery scheduled for? The vet called me as soon as everything was done and she started waking up.Would it be too soon to call and check on her? Lol. Already having kitten withdrawals!!!
Nope. If it helps you then call. I'm sure that they are used to concerned pet parents calling all the time.Would it be too soon to call and check on her? Lol. Already having kitten withdrawals!!!
That explains a lot. She wasn't taught a lot of her necessary kitten manners from mom. She's come a long way. She will continue to progress. Just make sure that you tell her NO when she bites and reward her when she behaves the way you want her to. She'll learn. Cats are smart. Sometimes when Lilith or Sophie is snuggled with me, they will stroke my arm with their paw. Sometimes with the claws about halfway out. I ask them to put the claws away please and they do. They will lift the paw, the claws go in and arm stroking continues. :9:Looking back at how my fiancé first found her, abandoned, starving, dehydrated, eye infection in both eyes, she has come a long way. Her 2 siblings did not survive. Her birth Mother either died or was too sick or young to care for her.
