I am very nervous and anxious because when My Tom comes home from the urinary blockage and now begining of kidney problems, he will have to be an inside cat.
He's been an outdoor cat all his life.
I don't know how to make him comfortable.
I have a garage where I can keep him but it gets too hot/cold in there.
My room is small and if I keep in inside, that where he will have to be.
I live with my parents and my mom has never wanted cats indoors.
Any suggestions on what I can do?
I really want to make him comfortable and happpy!
Thanks.

P.S. Will it be safe if he hangs around with Mixy, his sister?
I'd bring her in so that she can spend time with him.
Mixy is a very nervous cat since she was a kitten.
When I take her into the garage because it's cold, she starts scrtatching the door because she needs to get out.
Any worries about either getting something contagious?

Has Tom always hung out with his sister? If so, sure. Do they have all their shots? Is Tom neutered? A small room, with maybe a cat tree and windows to watch the birds is certainly safer than being outside. Can Mixie stay with him instead of outside? Is Mixie spayed. If no, both should be done ASAP. You don't need kittens.

As long as your kitties are inside, they will not get anything from other cats. Outside, even though a cat is fully immunized, there are tons of nasty fates awaiting them. I have two former feral cats who do not miss being outside at all. In fact, sometimes they don't even want to go out into the outside enclosure my dh built them. A cat can acclimate. Don't believe the old wisdom that they can't. There are all sorts of outdoor enclosures. Drs. Foster and Smith catalog has "kitty tents" where they can go outside safely.

Both Tom and Mixy are fixed.
They always hung around outside.
Yesterday when Tom came home, she got a bit scared and went outside.
For now, Tom is doing ok being indoors.
Thank you.
