Hello all!!
I am new here and would first like to introduce myself and then get on to the goodies. My cats.
I am a young woman from Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania. I do mostly office work and live with my step-sister in a townhome. I am a Christian and love going to my amazing church, sometimes more than once a week!!
My first cat that I had for a long period of time was a black cat who I named Kit-tan to stray away from the black cat cliches. It was a play on "kitten". Hey, I was 14 at the time, give me a break, heh. Old Picture shown here:
Anyway, since then I had to move down to Virginia for a job and couldn't bring my cat with, so my mother and step-father took him in for me. They declawed him and changed his name to Midnight, but he is still my baby. Everytime I come to their house and use the computer, Midnight hops up into my lap and purrs until I scratch him in that special spot and let him know it is ok to lay down. There he stays until I get up. Is it possible for a cat to remember their primary owner after being away from them for about a year and a half?
Then there is Myrtle. She is my pride and joy. While Midnight can be tempremental and anti-social, Myrtle is the sweetest thing you could ever imagine, and friendly with all to boot. She is a beige, grey and white tortoise shell and is 6 months and 1 week old. Picture when she was 8 weeks found here:
Myrtle is everything I could ask for and more in a cat. She is the daughter of a cat that belonged to the people I used to live/work for in Virginia. I watched as she was born, and have taken care of her ever since. I am very overprotective and worrysome about her because I want her to stay as sweet and innocent as she is now. I realize she is going to get older and more mature, but a more calm version of her would be just as nice too, hehe. I just want to make sure she doesn't end up like Midnight, bitter and (in my opinion) depressed.
When I look into his eyes it seems he has this hidden past that had traumatized him into being the angry cat he is today. Don't get me wrong, he has his moments (like right now) where he is loving and sweet. But he isn't like that with everyone. Only my step-father and myself. He seems to either shrug off or attack anyone else who approaches him and if you pet him the wrong way he WILL bite/scratch. I do admit that my younger brother had tortured him a bit when he was a kitten and perhaps that is why he can be the way he is. Who knows. All I know is that while my mother refers to him as "Satan" I still love him and will always think of him as my first child.
Nice to meet you all!
