I'm freaking out and I'm desperate for some support and advice.
Monday, June 16, my neutered male indoor cat named Wonder Waffles got outside. He was last seen around 5:30 am on Wednesday, June 18. Since then, nothing.
He's never been outside before (besides when he was a kitten and that time wasn't very pleasant either as his mother and litter mates were killed by a dog -- this was before I adopted him) and he was neutered before he hit puberty. Until a few days ago, we were tracking him as we found tracks of what we assume belong to him that lead to the covert under our driveway, where it meets the road. But we haven't been able to catch him and we haven't seen any new prints in a few days.
I'm an emotional wreck, I wanted to move out months ago with my boyfriend and our three cats (including our Waffle) because his parents already have a large amount of cats and they are all outdoor and we weren't seeing eye-to-eye about how to raise the cats. They have two unfixed tom cats that hang out in the yard and two more unfixed tom cats that visit every now and then, along with a female cat and her five kittens (who are about 4-5 months old now) who stay here too. They also have a dog who likes to play chase with the cats from time-to-time and I'm scared that one of those animals chased him out of the yard.
My boyfriend and I go jogging every day too, around the block, and we've seen no signs of him. There was a black and white cat who looked nearly identical to our Waffle around the corner from us but it ran into our neighbor's yard before my boyfriend could reach it.
I really need some support. My neighbors aren't the friendliest and most of them have large dogs (some of which are aggressive; I was nearly attacked by a man's pack, a literal pack [8+ dogs], of dogs) and it's heavily wooded out here. I don't think I'm ever going to find him. I can't leave food out for him because it gets eaten before he can even notice it's there, it keeps raining so if I even attempted to leave something outside that smelled like home, it'd get washed out in the rain. What should I do?
I'd also like to mention that I've been fighting a chronic skin condition with Waffle for the past year and I was doing everything I could to combat it, including giving him regular (once a week) baths with oatmeal + avocado shampoo. Do you think he hates me?
