Sam and Bailey are really good friends now, but still pretty independent, and I really enjoy seeing how their relationship develops. (I've had Sam for almost 2 years, Bailey for 5 months).
When they have not seen each other for a short time, Sam will greet Bailey by grooming her, which usually turns into a big wrestling match. Now Bailey usually tries to groom Sam too, and then they end up fighting about who gets to lick who. Just in the past few days, Sam has started ambushing Bailey as she walks by, leaping out and knocking her over to start the play fight.
Today I found them snuggling together for the first time. Sam had given Bailey a thorough grooming session, which, for the first time, did not end in a cat fight. Then Sam stretched out on the floor, and Bailey lay next to him with her head snuggled up on his shoulder. She was sleeping, at least her eyes were closed, and Sam was just lying there, eyes open, not moving, and he stayed there until she got up and moved.
I think they may end up being snuggly cats after all!
