I've had Pumpkin for just over two years. I adopted him a few months before we moved to this apartment. I have an order for a therapy pet from my doctor, which was great because before we moved here, I lived in an apartment that didn't allow pets. They couldn't force me to give him up!
Anyway, one thing I don't like about this new apartment is they allow only one pet per apartment. This place is subsidized through USDA Rural Development Multi-Family Housing, so I don't see how the owners can get away with this rule. I know someone in the town I used to live in who has a subsidized apartment (I believe it's the same agency but I could be wrong) and she has two cats.
Pumpkin seems to be getting over the tummy issues he had shortly after I adopted him, but at times he acts like he's not interested in doing much of anything. I just tried to get him to play and he went back to bed. Pumpkin is eating ok, and pooping and peeing ok, so I don't think he feels ill. But I wonder if he's bored or depressed, and this concerns me.
I believe that he would like a playmate but I asked management here to waive that rule. I asked several times and they refused. But I had a thought:
What if I were to get a note from my doctor for another therapy pet? Wouldn't they have to allow me to get Pumpkin a playmate then?
Please advise. I want my baby to be happy and I would like to add to our small family. I know I can handle two cats and if I can get one, there's a shelter not far from here I want to go to.
Thanks!
