On Easter Day when we finished our dinner, my grandson asked to play with my cats. I told him " Turn them on the porch. Play all you want with Muffin, don't pick up Mattie. If you come inside bleeding, I won't feel sorry for you because I told you don't pick her up." Later I watched him out the storm door. He was sitting on the sofa and had stacked some pillows up high.and put Muffin on top. So they were eye level with each other. Now grandson is the cutest 9 year old little red head you ever saw. Well cat and boy were eye to eye carrying on a conversation. His little face was very serious and he was telling Muffin something I couldn't hear. Muffin was paying attention to every word and loving the attention. From time to time cat would have to lay down and roll all around because he was enjoying it so much. But then he would get back on his pillow perch, stare at boy and wait for some more conversation. It really made me smile as it reminded me just how simple things can be in the life of a boy and a cat. Just wanted to share this story.
