When I started my pt job I wore fairly new walking shoes (ryka) and my feet hurt. I tried a couple other pairs of shoes and they didn't help either.
I wore my mary jane style crocs and my feet felt better so I got a pair of the "Bistro" Crocs (they have anti slip on the bottom). While not beautiful (I bought in Mario Batali orange!) my feet feel much better. I either and moving or standing for the 6 hours shifts. I don't not ever sit down.
You might just want to check out Croc's website.
Also make sure you stretch your hamstrings as they will get tight too. I'm surprised they don't have the gel mats for the cashier stations?
