My cat's mouth looks strange?

This may be a totally normal thing but I've never seen it happen in cats so I'm sharing just in case.
This is Crumb. He is 8 months old and his mouth started doing this thing a few days ago (pictures below)

I tried to get the pictures as clear as possible but it looks like his mouth is swollen? Like how mouths look in dogs. If anybody sees this and gives advice thank you in advance 💙

It's hard to tell from those pics, but could this be what they call 'rodent ulcers' (eosinophilic granuloma complex)? Most commonly brought on by bacteria building up in cat food dishes, especially if they are plastic or another form of material than can absorb bacteria easily. They can also be from allergies. Anything in this article that might ring a bell? I would go from the simplest causes to the more complicated as your cat is young and it is likely from a simpler source.
