My cat is trying to eat the scratching post.

We adopted a ten year old cat who came to us as a front paw declaw (Sonic). Three weeks ago we brought home a kitten (Disco) We have a scratching post for Disco and she loves it but Sonic keeps eating the post and getting sick. I've covered it with a different material but now Disco has lost intrest. Any suggestions on something Disco can use that Sonic won't try to eat?

I have it covered in denim now, and she has a toy with a scratch pad on the top but Disco isn't as intrested in that one.
