My cat is two years old and is an active indoor cat. Recently I have noticed his hind legs are causing him pain. I am not sure if it is his legs or hips, or what it could be. What I first noticed was, he would be walking and out of no where stop and cry out in pain. He would then proceed to back up and his leg would go rigid. It looked to me like he was trying to solve the problem on his own. He would shake out his leg and lay down. Now I have noticed him do this multiple times in the past few days but can't think of a time or incident where he may have taken a fall. Now it seems to be getting worse, as he cannot even jump up onto my bed (which isnt even knee high). Last night he attempted to jump onto the couch and ended up falling backwards. He still has his spirit though, he has seem multiple things that make him want to get up and chase it, but will attempt and just lay back down instead.
I am not sure what to do. I have been on the internet searching tirelessly to try to figure out what to do. I am just out of school and do not have a lot of money, and am scared a vet may charge me a lot of money to find out the problem. Has anyone else ever seen an issue like this? Should I just bite the bullet and take him in? It is really hard watching him in pain like this.
