My Cat Is In Love With A Shoe String...

Our small cat has always loved playing, but things have recently gotten out of hand. She has started an affair with a boot lace. I played with it one time and now she won't stop. She carries it around and wails for us to play with it, even if we just did for a half-hour. When we don't have it, she runs around us looking for it and digging under us. I feel bad, and am not sure what interaction with her I'm not fulfilling. I want her to be happy, but this is just pitiful.

Cats can get obsessed with a certain toy or game. In your cats case she apparently just loves to chase shoe laces. I used to have a cat that also loved a shoe lace. When she wanted me to use it to play with her she would bring it to me and slowly drag back and forth across my lap until I gave in and started dangling it for her to chase.

Keep giving her a variety of toys and she may find one that she loves as much as shoe laces.
