My sweet cat Indy is a very healthy 2 year old male, who has a very healthy appetite. I feed him buffalo blue food and supplement with some greenies dental treats. When we found him as a kitten, he was a stray and has a bit of a scavenger mentality, so he frequently steals bites of your dinner. He also loves ice cream so sometimes we give him some of that. He has always been healthy, but occasionally has a little blood on the outside of his stool, which the vet thinks is when he eats something too rich, like ice cream. She doesn't seem worried at all, but it has always bothered me. Blood in my stool would scare me, so why not in my cat?
Because I've always worried about that, I bought him some greenies digestive care treats and gave him some yesterday, maybe about ten total. Now he's had diarrhea for 24 hours. It is very liquidy and green in color and I am convinced that's what did it. He is otherwise healthy, he plays and eats, but every couple of hours he goes to his box and has a little bout of diarrhea.
Obviously I have stopped giving him the treats, and in fact have not given him any greenies at all since he got sick, but I'm a little nervous. When should I take him to the vet? What should I do? It shows no signs of stopping!!!
The only other thing I can think of is that he stole a little piece of tiramisu off of my husbands plate, and there's coffee liquer in tiramisu so maybe that did it?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
