Ok at first the old cat didn't like the idea of another in her house.. she's coming around little by little and now chases new cat back.. but she will not play nicely.. she'll chase new cat.. then hiss or if new cats goes to come at her she hisses.. but it's ok if she's trying to play... I Dont know what else to do or try to get them to be ok with one another.. I've seperated them first few days so to make sure no cat fights and neither was hurt.. seperated all their things like litter box which it seems they both will use whichever one they want too.. and foods seperated as well. I noticed new cat going to old cats bowl and eating her food.. which she will only eat 1 type of food and well I spend quite a bit on it each week.. old cat climbs in bed at night until new cat comes in then it's hissing and back out of the room.. new cat was sleeping in bed with us but she'd rather sit and watch for new cat to get up and be ready for playing anymore.. she's never too far from old cat laying near her... I just want them to be friends and I'd also like to have both laying near me in the bed at night.. any suggestions on how to get them to be friends or least friendlier

Thank you for adopting and saving the life of another cat.

I would highly suggest going through the formal introduction process.

Here are some links:

Everything you have experienced is normal. Cats are territorially and the existing cat has this new cat in their home. We want to go through the introduction process to ease the transition for the existing cat. Let the existing cat know the new cat is not a threat and associate both cats with good things.

I am happy to help you through the process and answer any questions.
