Hello!
I have a question regarding litterboxes. I know people say you should either have one box per cat or one box per cat plus one... The thing is I've never had more than one cat using a litterbox. I have only had one "permanent" cat at a time. Sometimes I have foster cats but they are separated from my cat so they don't use the same litter box.
My question is how do you keep the boxes clean!? I have a Littermaid and my cat seems to have a big 'output' so I have to dump the waste receptacle very often (often daily which can get expensive) or it will overflow or clog...
A family member is getting a purebred kitten, and I currently also have a foster rescued kitten I have grown very attached to and am considering keeping... One of the reasons I'm not sure about keeping him is I don't know how to keep up with 3 cats if they all decide to use 1 litterbox! It's hard enough to keep up with the 2 using separate boxes. My resident cat is very picky and if the box is not clean she will use the wood floor nearby instead.
Any tips or suggestions?
