We unexpectedly were adopted by a baby kitty who was wandering around our alley. KitKat is now almost 10 weeks old and is honestly amazing. I had cats my while childhood/early adulthood and I've never had one quite like him. He is a litterbox pro, despite being separated from mama so early (around 5 weeks).

My question is...we put his litterbox and food in the kitchen. I know having them too close is a no no but our house is small and we didn't have much choice since he was too teeny to do stairs to the basement.

Well, he is now getting pretty good at the stairs. I would like to move his box down there eventually but unsure how to do it without screwing up a good thing. Any advice? He is an only cat.

Hi! Good for you!
I think try having a box in both places for a little while during the time he's getting used to things :)

That absolutely makes sense. I overthink things sometimes. thank you both!
