My girl is due for her rabies and distemper shots. I worry about side effects because I'm a paranoid pet parent. Do you ever stay home with your kitties afterward to make sure they aren't having any negative side effects post-vaccination? If so, how long would you recommend?

My boyfriend and I have different "weekends" so trying to plan her appointment around that. Thanks!

Usually if there's going to be an acute anaphylactic reaction (which is very rare!), it'll happen within half an hour. You should monitor the cat for an hour or so after vaccinations. Less serious reactions may be things like lethargy and soreness, so it doesn't really matter if you're home or not for that. They just have to sleep it off.

:yeah: And I've always had trouble telling whether a cat is lethargic, anyway, since even in robust good health they sleep so much.
