Happy May everyone! It sure doesn't feel like May here though. Our weather has been ridiculous. Either hot or cold and raining. Mostly the raining.
I normally like a good rainy day because I get more done inside. But I'm so frustrated at not being able to finish weeding our veggie garden and I have ZERO flowers out. I need to get my peas in the ground. It's a little too warm here for a long pea growing season. I'm not sure it'll happen at all this year at this rate!
So for now I've got some spectacular weeds growing. Including a gigantic dandelion plant (seriously; it's big!) and some very large clover. I drive by the garden centers and just sigh...
I may just go buy my flowers one day this week anyway. And some tomato and pepper plants.
So onto happier spring things; it's Senior Prom season!
(Followed by Graduation season; but I'm in denial about that.) I just got to see some pictures of my oldest nephew and his date before their prom. They looked so cute! Coordinating outfits and way less awkward than I remember kids being when I was that age!
Did you attend your Senior Prom/Senior Ball? (I'm not sure if these are common overseas; but it's always been a big deal around here.) What did you wear?
I did attend my Senior Prom. My high school always had a combined Junior and Senior Prom; hosted by the Junior class. My Junior year I was on the committee and it was really fun to plan! I had a great time at Prom; even without a date. My Senior Prom was a little less fun. I was set up with the friend of a friend from her job. She took a guy she was friends with at work and we double dated to their prom and ours. I'll be honest; I was more excited about having a date than about who my date was and I regretted that about half way through my prom. I didn't want to ask one of my older or younger guy friends (who wouldn't have already been going). It was embarrassing to not have a date but asking the few other guy options from my friends would have just made it more obvious my date was paying me a favor.
I had asked a guy I was friendly with to Homecoming Junior year. I had known him since Middle School and I knew he was just a really nice guy who I would be comfortable going with as a friend. It took me weeks to get the courage up. And then he said he wasn't going; but he did!! He went alone though. I found out later that he had been asked by a few different girls. I got the impression he didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. He was raised in one of those ultra-respectful families. But that all made me not want to go ask someone myself again!! I'm just glad it was acceptable to go alone at that time! I went with a few other friends who didn't have dates Junior year and it was so fun! We went with some friends who were going together. The guy thought it was pretty awesome showing up with not 1 but 4 girls.
I wore a fuchsia strapless dress with silver elbow length gloves and silver shoes. The dress was fairly plain but it had a fold around the top and little buttons down the back. Besides being all but forgotten when it came to guys; my hair was always a challenge. It didn't come out quite right and I don't even know how to describe it.
When I went to the other guys prom I just had them put it up in a french twist with some loose curls around my face. It looked so much better!!
If I get around to it later; maybe i'll add a picture here.
