Back in January this year we adopted 2 adult female neutered cats, Momcat and Smokey. Smokey was more socialized, Momcat hid all the time. After a couple of months, Momcat jumped up on my bed with me in it. And didn't mind a few pets. Nowadays Momcat is always in my bed every night, along with me and Smokey. Momcat will tap my arm or shoulder essentially asking me to pet her. And during the day Momcat is much less skittish. She has come a good way from being just a "secondary" pet of Smokey. Now they're nearly both "primary" pets. I try to give both equal time. Neither of the cats are lap funguses, though.

How wonderful to hear. It just takes some cats more time than others to figure out they are in a safe place and to start to enjoy human company.
