I can not believe Meowgie came to us 3 weeks ago tomorrow! The time has just flown by. I have mixed emotions about letting him go when the time comes. My mom is excited and she NEEDS him...but I am going to miss him so much! She lives 3 hours from me...so while I will still see him occasionally, it is not like she lives in the same town or anything. I know it is the right thing to do (giving him to her), but that doesn't make it any easier.
He weighed 1 pound, 1 ounce today.
The day he came here, he weighed a tiny 6.2 ounces. My, how he has grown. His eyes are turning green/grayish now and he loves to play and wrestle. It is so cute to watch him back up and arch his back. The other cats are sweet with him - I guess they know his smell by him being in the house so long and by me touching them after I have held and fed him. They don't even hiss.
His litter box training is going great. He goes to the box consistently and does not mess anywhere else. However, his poos are still a but runny-ish and he does tend to get them on his little legs and tail when he goes. I am hoping the stools will harden as he learns to eat real food. He has been de-wormed twice now, so I really don't think it is a parasite issue (of course, I could be wrong) and he has never had accidents or anything the whole time I have had him.
We are still working on weaning. He is starting to show interest in the gruel mix of canned cat food and water or KMR that I give him several times a day. I am not forcing it...I just put the dish in his cage until the next bottle feeding and let him nibble and explore as he pleases. I have caught him taking a few bites here and there, so I think we are close to weaning.
Thank you all so much for the encouragement as I have done this. I was scared to death when he came home with me 3 weeks ago. I just knew I was going to do something wrong and he would die. The good Lord watched over His little creature AND the goofy human He chose to take care of said creature.
