We adopted June in February. She had been living with a clan of cats in a plant nursery in Sydney, but had been socialised and looked after by my brother so she is tame. She was named after June Carter Cash - my brother is a country music fan. I thought at first it was a strange name for a cat, but it fits. She is quite the lady.
She took immediately to the litter box, and even gathers the stray crystals that fall outside the tray into a pile with her paw. She is a delicate eater unless given beef and liver. She loves this so much she just about does a face plant in the bowl.
Although it took a while for her to venture from her hidey hole in the pantry, she is now quite comfortable around the house, but still quite shy and skittish. She will rub up against our legs, but won't let us pat her. I'd love to be able to check on her collar and trim off the excess, but she has a bad habit of swiping at you if you put your hand too close. We hope to clicker train her out of this. Fingers crossed.
June is my first ever cat. I've fallen madly in love. At 50+ years I've discovered I'm a cat person.
