Any raw feeders using Tasin 108 to grind chicken bones.? If so, which plate are you using and do you double grind? Bought and returned STX3000 Turboforce cause it kept clogging. Stinks cause I lose $80 in shipping fees. Will either buy Tasin 108 or if a good recipe without grinding meat and bones is out there I'd love to see it. Does anyone feed raw chicken wings and do they like it.? Is that enough bone for calcium? I don't care to use bone meal.
Thanks FellowFelineFanatics

There are a few here who grind @peaches08  @HarleyDiva  so hopefully they will respond. I don't grind bones so can't help.

If you don't want to grind bones, there are a few different things you can do. You can use eggshell for the calcium or you can feed bone-in meals if your cats will eat them.

Here's the thread about using eggshell calcium.

I've had the Tasin almost 2 years now, and love it! It grinds chicken thigh bones without problems. I use the same plate Dr. Pierson of www.cat info.org used, the 4 mm plate and don't double grind. When I use boneless pork or beef, I use eggshell powder for the calcium source but the other supplements are the same.

I got my grinder at www. onestopjerkyshop.com and got the silicone spray, disinfectant (although I use 90% alcohol now), and the brush kit. Without question get the brush kit. Alcohol cuts the fat when cleaning it and the silicone spray prevents rust.

Aloha Peaches, thanks for that. I too am using Pierson's recipe from catinfo.org. Love her passion. I showed the recipe to another vet who said the 75% bone content from thighs might be high. Do you have any thoughts on this based on your experience. Tho I suppose since DVM Pierson has been using this recipe with success so it is tried and true. How often do you rotate your meal offerings of pork, beef, chicken.
BTW I bought an Stx 3000 turboforce and it stinks so i sent it back . Clogged four times using the 4mm plate. Will order tasin 108 which I should have done in the first place. An expensive mistake.

My cats were prone to diarrhea on canned, but I think it might be the carrageenan or something. Anyway, mine are fine even though it is high bone content. You can lower it more, some people go as low as 5% bone for their cats. Mschauer can probably best help with that.

ETA: don't remove all but 5% of the number of bones. That would not give you a 5% bone content by weight.
