I found out earlier this week that my beautiful Muffy has breast cancer. The vet said there was an obvious mass under her tummy. The vet gave us the statistics (90% of mammory tumors are malignant, 10% benign) and that if she was to have surgery, we could be wasting money as there is a good chance that it's not successful. It felt like she had already written her off. My Muffy is 13 years and 5 months to be exact. She is due to go the vets on Monday for X-rays, bloods etc and surgery if the cancer hasn't spread.
I'm so distraught and cannot stop crying. I've read horror stories with surgery and recovery, but also read successful survivor stories. I just don't know what is best for her. I know this much, I couldn't bare her not surviving surgery, and dying on an operating table surrounded by strangers but I cannot bare letting her go and giving up on her either.
All I know is this hurts so much, I cannot breath. My beautiful Muffy. My best friend. :'(
