I have a maine coon hes 7 1/2 months old and weighs about 11 pounds. Do anyone know how long it will take before hes full grown? And do you thing hes big or just average for his age?
From the sound of it he's going to be a good size. It takes (generally) 3-5 years before they are fully grown, that depends upon the line it comes from and other factors. As Sam said... pictures, pictures...
Aww! He's so pretty! I have a full grown Maine Coon. I don't remember exactly how many years it took her though. She is pretty big now at 7 years old - and very strong. I think I remember her looking about that size when she was that age. Thumper's Cat Page
KittenKiya is a Maine Coon cross, neutered male, 3 1/2 years old and has got to weigh 15 pounds or better. He does have a ruff, but it took two years for it to start showing up. I got him from the Humane Society when he was a kitten and I really thought he was slow. I did some looking up on the internet and found out that they mature very, very slowly. He was seven months old before he meowed, and he scared himself when he did it. He is one magnificent cat. He taught himself how to "fetch". You throw the jingly bell (plastic ball with bell inside), he'd go run and catch it and bring it back, because he knew you would throw it again. They are such an elegant breed, even though as I said, mine is a cross. Enjoy your baby.
I had a Maine Coon mix that grew to be 22 lbs. His spine was level with my knee, and he was not even chubby, just large and big boned. His head was so big that I could lay my hand on the top of it and my middle finger would not quite reach his nose. His paw would cover my palm. Fortunately he was the sweetest, best natured kitty I have ever had. His name was Leo, a red tabby, and he has gone to the Bridge.
It took him about 2 years to reach is full height, a little longer to fill out.
