My 13 year old baby boy went to the emergency animal hospital on Saturday for fluid buildup in his abdomen. They ran all the tests. His heart, liver and kidneys are fine. The vet concluded that he must have cancer. They drained the fluid and said the only thing we can do going forward is drain the fluid again if it builds back up.
I'm looking for ways to decrease water retention and I understand low sodium, low phosphorous canned food would be the best. I don't have faith in prescription pet foods as they contain a lot of junk ingredients. Does anyone know of a high end brand of cat food (that isn't pate because he won't eat that), which is low in sodium and phosphorous?
